Gila River Indian News

Hello Gila River, my name is Brittany Burnette, I am 21 years old and reside in Sweetwater. My parents are Bruce Burnette from Sweetwater and Barbara Enos from Sacaton Flats.

I graduated high school from AZ Compass College Prep in May 2012 and graduated from Chandler-Gilbert Community College in May 2016 with an Associate of Fine Arts. In 2011, I had the opportunity to travel to three different countries, France, Italy, and Greece. It was at this time, that I decided to make a career in photography.

This summer, I am working as an intern for the Gila River Indian News as apart of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) youth program. Both of these departments are great for our youth to get excellent work experience and to help the Community. My next plan for higher education is to earn a Bachelor of Art degree in photography at Arizona State University’s Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. I also plan to live on campus; it will be a first time experience living the city. I’m excited to start my education at ASU to complete my degree for photography, and one day I will be able to come back and work in the Community. I hope that in my stay with the GRIN for the summer, I will learn many great things to help prepare me for a job in the future and gain a good perception of how much work and how important the news in broadcast and print is to our Community.
