The Gila River Indian Community’s Department of Transportation (DOT) will hold a Public Meeting: Wednesday, January 24, 2018 from 4 pm to 7 pm and on Friday, January 26, 2018 from 3 pm to 5:50 pm at the Executive Ke’ Complex, Thai-Ai Conference Room located at 291 W. Casa Blanca Road in Sacaton, Arizona. The purpose of the Public Meeting is to notify the public of DOT’s intention to submit a 5311 Rural Transportation Program grant application for operations, maintenance and capital funding for the Gila River Transit service.
Public notice is hereby made that Gila River Indian Community is applying for federal financial assistance to provide public transportation service as follows: deviated, fixed route service, operating weekdays from approximately 8 am to 4:30 pm, with service within Districts 3, 6 and 7.
Public notice is further made that Gila River Indian Community is also applying for federal financial assistance to purchase transit vehicles that will be used to provide public transportation services for the general public deviate, fixed route service within Districts 3, 6 and 7.
The transportation service will be available to the general public during all hours of operation. The project is expected to be financed by FTA Section 5311 Rural Program public transportation funds, with additional funds to be provided from Gila River Indian Community tribal funds. The total federal share of operating and capital projects is expected to be $1,450,445.
Gila River Indian Community ensures that the level and quality of transportation service is provided without regard to race, color, or national origin in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Human service agencies that receive assistance from other Federal agencies for non-emergency transportation services are encouraged to participate and coordinate with the provider in the planning, design and delivery of transportation services. Agencies may obtain copies of the service description and submit proposals for service coordination. Private bus and taxi operators may request copies of the project service description from the above named person and may submit comments on the service as described.
If you wish to comment on any aspect of the proposed project, submit a proposal or a request for service coordination or request a public hearing on this project, you must make your interest known in writing fifteen calendar days of the date of this publication and provide your comments within fifteen calendar days of your receipt of the project service description. Your requests and/or comments must be forwarded to the above person.
If any member of the public needs special ADA assistance or Limited English Proficiency (LEP) accommodations at the Public Meeting, notify the name given above at least 5 days in advance of the Public Meeting. Every reasonable effort will be made to provide ADA assistance and/or to provide vital information to LEP individuals in the language requested.
