Community members learn about healthy eating at nutrition health fair in Sacaton

The Nutrition Assis- tance Program hosted a nutrition health fair at the Ira Hayes memorial park on Friday, March 22. The health fair had a good turn- out, starting from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with plenty of Com- munity members and em- ployees stopping by to visit the informational booths which offered brochures and promotional incentives.
Some of the activities included a two mile “well- ness walk” that began at 7 a.m., booth activities, food demos and a salsa contest. The health fair brought together programs to help continue the promotion of healthy lifestyles and pre- vention. Programs in atten- dance were Genesis, Injury Prevention, WIC, Child Development & Education support services, Gila Riv- er Health Care, Community Services Department Elder- ly Nutrition Program.
Raffles were held throughout the event with the prizes of cookware i.e mixing bowls, measuring cups and spoons, utensils, and strainer.
