The Community Health Nutrition Program hosted a wellness gathering on Saturday, Nov. 16 at the District 6 Boys & Girls Club. The event began with a nutritional breakfast, blessing and a brief presentation of the Community’s background presented by members of the coalition.
The Nutrition Coalition is the result of a “Good Health and Wellness in Indian Country” five-year grant provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, that is administered through the Inter-Tribal Council of Arizona.
A background and overview of the Nutrition Coalition was given and opened for comments and questions, discussions on what health looks like and what it means to the Community. The Nutrition Coalition educates Community members on healthy eating, conducts assessments, and hosts health-related activities. The coalition meets every first Tuesday of the month.
