Gila River Hotels & Casinos’ executive team visited the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Phoenix, AZ on Dec. 21 to help feed and provide a little holiday cheer to those in need. Team members chopped lettuce and diced cucumbers from St. Vincent’s local garden, then served hundreds of hot meals to hungry families.
Gila River and the Society of St. Vincent de Paul have been partners for 10 years, and in that time have worked together to feed, clothe, house, and heal thousands of local families.
Over the years, Gila River has provided more than $152,000 in charitable donations as well as hundreds of volunteers in support of St. Vincent’s mission.
Those donations have serviced the homeless, provided medical and dental care for the working poor, funded charity dining rooms, created food boxes for hungry families, and supplied bridge housing shelters in the Valley.
Recently, Gila River donated an additional $12,500, provided volunteers to pick lettuce at their central Phoenix based urban farm, served holiday meals, and encouraged the public to support St. Vincent’s Turkey Tuesday drive.
Teaya Vicente, Gila River Hotels & Casinos Public Relations Manager said, “It has been an honor and a pleasure to work with such an amazing non-profit organization like the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Every year our team members look forward to helping our friends and neighbors who need a little assistance, and we are thankful to St. Vincent for letting us help them in their mission to make our community a better place.”
