On, Sunday, Sept. 29, Arizona Cardinals President Michael Bidwill presented a check for $5,000 to Gov. Stephen Roe Lewis, GRFD Captain Adrian Hernandez, and Javier Hernandez from the Gila River Fire Department prior to game between the Cardinals and the Seattle Seahawks.
The donation will support the GRFD’s Crisis Response and Firefighters Apprenticeship Scholarship Programs.
Chief Kathy Garcia later stated that the donation, “will be used for necessary supplies and materials for both the apprentice program and crisis response team.”
Manuel Hernandez, Public Relations Coordinator for Gila River Hotels & Casinos, said, “This donation is made possible through the long-time partnership of the Gila River Hotels & Casinos and the Arizona Cardinals.”
The presentation ceremony was aired during the game for everyone in attendance. During the pregame ceremony Teaya Vicente and Thomas Throssell, Public Relations at Gila River Hotels & Casinos, were present to accept the donation.
Last month, Gila River Hotels & Casinos became the official hotel and casino of the Arizona Cardinals. During the game, two lucky fans won a two-night stay at the new Cardinals Suite installed at the Wild Horse Pass Hotel. The partnership has started off on a strong foot and will continue through the remainder of the season and beyond.
