On Wednesday, July 20, Indian Gaming Association (IGA) Chairman Ernest L. Stevens, Jr. made a stop at the Community’s Governance Center to meet with Governor Stephen Roe Lewis.
Ernie Stevens, Jr. is the Chairman and national spokesperson for the Indian Gaming Association in Washington, D.C. Stevens is currently in his ninth two-year term as the organization’s leader, a position elected by the member tribes of the Indian Gaming Association.
The IGA serves as a proponent of gaming in Indian country by protecting and preserving the general welfare of tribes striving for self-sufficiency through gaming enterprises. IGA also works with the Federal government and Congress to develop sound policies and practices and to provide technical assistance and advocacy on gaming-related issues.
The meeting prompted helpful discussions concerning the state of gaming and updates that may concern the Gila River Gaming Enterprise.
