On April 28, Gila River Resorts & Casinos – Vee Quiva hosted the return of Bingo with ‘Elder Bingo’ from 12:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Casino employees were eager to host new and familiar faces.
Bright, jubilant sighs filled the newly renovated Bingo Hall at Vee Quiva as Community elders listened to their peers shout out, “Bingo!”
In 2020, Gila River Resorts & Casinos canceled all bingo games and events. The decision to cancel was due to the COVID-19 restrictions placed in the Community, preventing large gatherings from occurring. However, since then Gila River Resorts, & Casinos – Vee Quiva used this time to renovate the Bingo Hall and have waited for the Bingo Club to return.
“When COVID-19 hit; this room went away, and it was all slot machines, and we basically got rid of everything. Now we came back and rebuilt the whole room, made it better, made it look nicer,” said Nick Dorsey, Director of Facilities at Vee Quiva. “We are just really happy this came back to Vee Quiva and the Community.”
“I came today to see what it was like, and it feels the same,” described Community elder Bernadine Redbird, District 6.
Guests gathered inside the newly renovated hall room and took their seats at long tables with tablets and their Bingo cards. Giant television screens were hung on the walls surrounding the hall, visually displaying the Bingo ball calls. In addition, there was a new fountain and coffee drink area, along with a snack bar where guests were given snacks and complimentary incentive bags with Bingo-styled t-shirts.
Vee Quiva is preparing to host more Bingo events daily throughout the matinee, evening, and mini sessions beginning May 5.
Patrons can also expect the return of ‘Bingo After Dark’ (B.A.D) Bingo on Saturdays at Gila River Resorts & Casinos – Vee Quiva.
