Sunday, April 23, The Maricopa Village Christian School gathered Community members for a “Family Fun Day” event for residents of District 7. Families and children enjoyed several activities, food, games, and snacks.
“Today’s event serves as a meet and great for us and the residents of District 7, provide Community resources to families, and enroll new students all while enjoying food, games and having fun,” said Al Chatman Jr., Maricopa Village Christian School Principal.
The fun day event is the second gathering the school has hosted; the first was last fall, and they hope to continue hosting two per year.
“It’s really great for us, we look forward to making new friends and creating long lasting bonds with everyone here in the Community, because this campus belongs to the Community so we’re just doing our part to ensure the residents take advantage of what we can provide,” said Chatman.
One exciting development Chatman shared was the start of the school “Adventurers Club” for children ages two to five years old. The goal is to instill responsibility, new skills, and increase family bonding through family participation. Initially, the program will serve children in Districts 6 and 7, and they have hopes to expand across the Community.
“Today was a good way to get together, enjoy the water, the sun, and come together as a Community,” said one District 7 father who attended with his family. Their children enjoyed the water slides and food throughout the afternoon. Their children are also enrolled in the school’s “Adventurers Club” and look forward to more youth getting involved.
