P-MIP Civil Engineer Hong Mai Retires

The Pima-Maricopa Irrigation Project (P-MIP) department gathered on Wednesday, June 26, to celebrate the retirement of P-MIP Civil Engineer – Irrigation Hong Mai who retired from the Community after 12 years of service.  Hong previously worked for Stantec Consulting and Franzoy Corey Engineers and transitioned into his role at P-MIP in December 2012. 

 

P-MIP Director David DeJong, presented on behalf of the Community, a retirement award. Community members and P-MIP employees Raphael Pedro and Kristina Morago placed a Pendleton blanket around Hong in appreciation for the immense contribution to the Community and respect for his accomplishments that will benefit generations to come. As a parting gift, he was also given a photo highlighting his final project, MAR 8B, located on the Gila River, adjacent to Interstate 10.

 

“I am very thankful to your community, I worked here for 12 years and worked for a wonderful team,” Hong said.  “Do the best you can to help your team, together help your projects moving forward,” Hong encouraged to staff present.

Director DeJong offered closing comments and best wishes to Hong.  “When you drive down I-10 and you see water going down MAR 8B, you can tell your kids, ‘I designed that.’  Or when you look at the reclaimed water pipeline or any of the projects you have been involved in, you had a hand in it.”
