The Akimel O’otham Loditha Kud Ki - Gila River Indian Community Court hosted ‘Law Day’ in Sacaton, to showcase and celebrate the rule of law in the Community.
Chief Judge Anthony J. Hill opened the event, expressing its importance, “In celebrating this day, it welcomes the community to be more aware of a system set in place to help.”
After the opening remarks, the event kicked off with many activities for those in attendance. An estimated 20 booths shared information for various departments in the Community.
The biggest attraction was the dunk tank, with many attendees lining up to take a chance to dunk in the tank. Even Chief Judge Hill joined the fun.
The event also held four information sessions in the court about law processes and programs. Attendees were required to attend all four sessions to be entered into a raffle for prizes ranging from Harkins Theaters gift cards, tumblers cups, a television, and more, announced during the event’s closing remarks.
The occasion was a fun-filled day to learn more about law and showcase those who work within the Community Court. Participants walked away with plenty of information, food, and raffle prizes.
Chief Judge Hill closed out the event, expressing his appreciation to all for their participation and contribution to a successful event. He hopes for more events in the future and looks forward to next year’s Law Day.
